ID verification is required for learners who enrol on some microcredentials and degrees.
Learners on short courses, including Premium, are not required to verify their ID.
Why ID verification?
Our accredited microcredentials and degrees carry professional and academic credit.
It's an accepted and common practice for universities all over the globe to verify their students' identity.
Universities that accept learners on campus always require students to present copies of certified documents (these include passport/ID, previous degree transcripts, etc).
Universities that accept learners onto online studies typically have the same process (except some are happy to accept the copy without needing to certify it).
Learners are also registered onto the university’s student database and given access to university's online sources such as the library, etc.
At the end of the course, a learner will also receive transcripts. Because of credit award, it is paramount to verify that the university is issuing academic credits to the person who claims to be who they are.
In the future, learners can use those credits to enter further academic studies and have them counted as recognition for prior learning.
