This article explains how you can pay for a FutureLearn course. If you're having trouble paying, please see Issues with the Payment System.
Pay in a convenient currency
FutureLearn accepts payment in different currencies; it determines what currency you're charged based on your IP address. It's not possible to change the currency that you’re being asked to pay in, however we hope to offer this in future.
The FutureLearn site will automatically detect your computer's location to show you a price in one of the following currencies:
- GBP if you're in the UK
- Euros if you're in Europe
- Swiss francs if you're in Switzerland
- Canadian dollars if you're in Canada
- Australian dollars if you're in Australia
- New Zealand dollars if you're in New Zealand
- Saudi Riyal if you're in Saudi Arabia
- United Arab Emirates dirham AED if you're in the United Arab Emirates
- Singapore dollars if you're in Singapore
- Hong Kong dollars if you're in Hong Kong
- Indian rupees if you're in India
- US dollars if you're anywhere else in the world
Please note that FutureLearn is a company based in the UK so you may be charged an international payment fee by your bank/card provider if they charge fees for making international payments.
What payment methods do you accept?
We can only accept payments made by card (Visa, Mastercard and American Express) or PayPal via our online system.
Payment for ExpertTracks and Unlimited subscriptions can only be made by card; PayPal is not currently available for these products.
We’re sorry, but we can’t accept Western Union, payment over the phone, or any other method.
Can I get a tax receipt / invoice?
- For ExpertTrack and Unlimited subscriptions, invoices are sent in PDF via email when you make the payment, attached with the payment confirmation email.
- For Upgrades and other type of courses, our order confirmation email contains the breakdown of the price (including the VAT and our VAT details) - you should be able to use this for company expense claims.
If you haven't received your email please check your junk/spam folders. If not in there, get in touch at orders@futurelearn.com and we'll resend it. Please note that we can only send these emails to the email address linked to your FutureLearn account.
Can I pay by invoice?
Unless purchasing in bulk (orders of 10 or more) it is not possible to pay by invoice.
I'm interested in paying in bulk. How can I do this?

Is your payment system secure?
We use the payment gateways Stripe and PayPal for our transactions. FutureLearn, Stripe and PayPal are all PCI compliant. Your card details are transmitted entirely securely and all of our pages are served securely over SSL (Secure Sockets Layer).
